THE SEX LIFE OF MARILYN MONROE
Reportedly, she imagined having sex with every man she met, but described herself as “selectively promiscuous.” She called Hollywood in the 1940s an “overcrowded brothel” which she used to help her climb the ladder. Long before the Me Too movement, sex with executives and producers in Hollywood to get roles was the norm. She apparently liked being admired, but didn’t like being pushed into sex. Fred Guiles wrote that she was “too self-absorbed to respond to men most of the time,” while simultaneously said to be extremely insecure. Marlon Brando said that she said, “I don’t know if I’m doing it right,” shortly after their encounter. Norman Mailer reported that she was, “pleasant in bed, but receptive rather than innovative.”
Marilyn eventually found her stardom and after signing her first big contract said, “That’s the last cock I’ll have to suck.”
